Let's be honest. Dating apps have spent fifteen years changing who's on them and roughly zero minutes changing how they work. Swipe, match, type "hey", wait, get ghosted, repeat. The conversation that never quite starts. The three days spent workshopping one witty reply. The person who was hilarious in text and had the charisma of a wet teabag in real life.
We got fed up with it. So we built CheckIn.
How it works
On CheckIn, there is no text chat. None. Not a little one. Not a "just for logistics" one. Once you match, you talk. Voice notes when you want to keep it low-key, video calls when you're ready to actually meet the person. That's it.
It might sound scary. It's really not. A 20-second voice note tells someone more about you than a thousand carefully edited messages ever could. Your laugh, your accent, the way you say "to be fair" far too often. That's you. That's what people actually fall for. And because everyone on here is doing the same thing, nobody's auditioning. You're just chatting.
Why the chicken?
Because CheckIn sounds like chicken and we're not above a pun. Also because dating shouldn't feel like a job interview. Most dating apps take themselves incredibly seriously. We think that's half the problem. If the whole thing is a bit daft, then sounding a bit daft on a voice note stops being a failure and starts being the point.

Real beats perfect. Nobody sounds polished on a voice note and that's exactly why it works.
Fewer, better. You get five matches at a time, not five hundred. When your dance card's full, you talk to the people on it or free up a slot. No collecting matches like Pokémon.
Say when you're free. Hit Check In when you've actually got time to talk, and see who else is around right now. No more messages fired into the void at 11pm on a Tuesday.
Serious about safety, never about ourselves. Everyone's verified before they can call. Block and report is one tap. We take creeps seriously so you don't have to.
Who's behind it
CheckIn was started in Brighton by two people who'd had enough of watching good matches die in a text box. We're not a giant corporation with a logo that's been through forty rounds of brand review. We're a handful of people, one very large chicken, and a theory that people are much better at this in their own voice.
