Terms of service
Last updated: 19 October 2026.

1. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to use CheckIn. We check your date of birth and your photos, and may ask for a quick selfie or an ID check. Accounts found to be underage are removed immediately.

2. Your account
You agree to provide accurate information, keep your login secure, and not impersonate anyone. One person, one account.

3. Acceptable use
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. No harassment, hate speech, nudity, sexual content, threats, scams, solicitation, recording other users, or sharing another user's information off-platform without their consent. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the account can be closed straight away.

4. Video calls
First calls are time-limited for safety. We do not record calls. You agree not to record, screenshot or rebroadcast another user's call without their explicit, in-call consent.

5. Subscriptions
Free, Plus (£10/mo) and Premium (£20/mo) tiers renew automatically. You can cancel anytime in settings; access continues until the end of the paid period. No refunds for partial periods. Top-ups are one-off purchases. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own rules; if they refund a top-up, whatever is left of it is taken back from your account.

6. Referrals
Every member has a referral code in Profile › Settings › Refer a friend. When someone new enters your code and finishes signing up, you each get one free month of CheckIn Premium. If you already pay for Premium through your app store, your next renewal moves back 30 days instead; if the store won't allow that, the month starts when your paid Premium ends. Free months run one after another, can't be exchanged for money, and each person can earn up to 3 in total. After that, each friend who joins with your code gets you one Spotlight instead, and they still get their own month. You can enter a friend's code while signing up or within 14 days of finishing, use a friend's code once, and get a friend's month once per person: a code used again on the same phone, sign-in or ID, by its owner, or swapped back with the person who invited you, gives no month. If the new member is banned within 14 days, any months from that referral that haven't started are cancelled, and the Spotlight it gave you is taken back if you have one left. We may change or end referral rewards; months and Spotlights already earned are kept.

7. Termination
We may pause or close your account for breaches of these terms or our community rules. Most of these decisions are made automatically from reports. A report of threats, harassment, unwanted sexual content or nudity that passes our reliability checks closes your account straight away. Reports from several different people who had been in touch with you, or who have passed the ID check, lead to a warning, then a 7-day pause, then a 30-day pause, then closure. A report from someone who finished signing up less than 3 days before does nothing by itself. A report that you might be under 18 hides your account until you pass an ID check, and your matches are kept. While we have paused or closed your account, nobody can see you and your matches end; deleting your account does not end a pause or an ID check, which carry on if you join again; a paid plan keeps running until you cancel it in your app store. You can appeal a pause, or a closure in its first 30 days, once in the app; we decide appeals by checking the reports again, within 2 days. If you still think we got it wrong, email contact@checkin-chicken.com. You can also pause your profile yourself, at the bottom of Profile. Nobody new will see you or be able to match with you, and you can resume at any time. If you pause to take things further with one match, your other matches end. You can delete your account at any time from settings.

8. Disclaimers
CheckIn helps people meet but does not screen the personality, background or intentions of users beyond age/identity verification. You are responsible for your own choices when meeting people.

9. Liability
To the extent allowed by law, CheckIn is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
